Forum Update: Supporting Community-Led Discussion
The forum was created as a space for shared learning and peer support, and as the community grows, we want to lean more fully into that purpose.
Going forward, PAAB will be taking a more listening-first role in forum discussions. Rather than responding immediately to every question, we’ll be encouraging members to engage with one another, share experiences, and help build collective understanding. PAAB will continue to monitor conversations and will step in to:
- Correct any misunderstandings
- Provide guidance when questions remain unanswered after a few days
- Support discussions where official clarification is needed
Our goal is to foster a collaborative, trusted community where knowledge is shared and strengthened by everyone’s contributions.
Thank you for being part of the conversation.
Unbranded Patient APS
-
When patients are discharged from the hospital and then continue with their family physician, there is sometimes a gap in disease management. Are we able to develop an unbranded disease state APS (e.g., a handout) that would be given to the patient by an HCP in the hospital setting for use with discussion with their family physician? Content would be developed based on statistics (patient association websites) and Canadian Guidelines. Are we able to cite and include Guideline recommendations regarding target levels within the patient handout?

Hey @tmcm
Yes, a compliant unbranded disease information pieces/tool could be created to be provided to patients by healthcare professionals. Patient information should be supported by consensus groups and authoritative sources. Guidelines are considered an acceptable source for disease targets in an unbranded patient piece.
