Forum Update: Supporting Community-Led Discussion
The forum was created as a space for shared learning and peer support, and as the community grows, we want to lean more fully into that purpose.
Going forward, PAAB will be taking a more listening-first role in forum discussions. Rather than responding immediately to every question, we’ll be encouraging members to engage with one another, share experiences, and help build collective understanding. PAAB will continue to monitor conversations and will step in to:
- Correct any misunderstandings
- Provide guidance when questions remain unanswered after a few days
- Support discussions where official clarification is needed
Our goal is to foster a collaborative, trusted community where knowledge is shared and strengthened by everyone’s contributions.
Thank you for being part of the conversation.
Linking mid-level FB to an attachment with high-level (in an email)
-
Hi there,
If you have an email which requires high-level FB, I know PAAB allows including mid-level FB which directly links to a webpage with high-level FB, but could the high-level instead be an attached PDF? Does there still need to be a direct link within the mid-level FB copy section (which opens the PDF), or could we just say "please open the attachment"?
Thank you!

Good Afternoon @kshulist
Please see the document Guidance on Base Fair Balance Level Selection and Placement. Specifically, the section “Placement & visual treatment of selected fair balance level (Figures 1 and Figure 2).
A direct link within the middle-level FB copy section which *directly opens the PDF containing the highest level FB is required, but the wording of the directive can vary to accurately reflect which steps the HCP needs to take in order to access the HFB (e.g. you can replace the wording “Click here” in “Click here for additional safety information…” with “Click here to open an attachment for additional safety information…” if you wish to clarify to the reader what will happen when they click on it). Requiring two clicks, or scrolling somewhere else to access the attachment, would also not be acceptable.
